Winter 2011 is upon us. This winter is the "La Nina" winter which means that it should be better than anything we have seen since 1998/1999 and should pack a big punch of snow, ice and wind. Stay tuned for the first snowkite videos and photos of the season.
You can now take a snowkite lesson in St. John's Newfoundland as well through the Newfoundland Electric Bike company is you find yourself in Eastern Newfoundland. Every Friday and Saturday you can join us at the Confederation Building Field for and introductory snowkite lesson. As usual, you can also get a lesson from the Newfoundland Snowkite School anytime between December 26 and April 15 (snow conditions permitting).
When is comes to alternative transport, Electric Bikes and Kites two of the best ways to get around. Nothing takes away more from your nature experience then a big loud smelly snowmobile or a truck that suck money from your wallet and pollutes the environment. If you are serious about exploring alternatives, check out the Christmas Sale at NL Ebike and check out the specs on their electric bike called "the townie". They claim it costs only a quarter in electrical fees to charge a battery and apparently one charge can take you up to 70km in distance at a top speed of 35km/hour. While this is not as efficient as a kite (that will take you a limitless distance for free) it is getting close, and zero emissions is something to be proud of.
Been snowkiting this season? Be one of the first to post a Winter 2010/2011 video on snowkite.ca and get a chance to win a 2011 Ozone Kite from My Newfoundland Adventures
